Monstera Thai Constellation
Bring a piece of the cosmos indoors with this exquisite 4-inch Monstera 'Thai Constellation.' Unlike its all-green relatives, this rare and highly sought-after plant features stunning, stable variegation of creamy white and ivory spots, splashes, and streaks across its lush green foliage. The unique, star-like pattern on each leaf is a result of tissue culture from a single lab in Thailand, making every plant a one-of-a-kind living work of art. As it matures, this climbing aroid will develop the iconic splits and holes in its leaves (fenestrations) that are a hallmark of the Monstera family, adding to its tropical charm. Perfect for collectors and enthusiasts looking to add a show-stopping statement piece to their indoor jungle.
Care Instructions:
- Light: Provide bright, indirect light. The 'Thai Constellation' needs more light than an all-green Monstera to maintain its vibrant variegation, but direct sunlight can scorch its delicate leaves. An east-facing window or a few feet back from a south or west-facing window is ideal.
- Watering: Allow the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Monstera are susceptible to root rot, so it's crucial not to overwater. Ensure your pot has excellent drainage.
- Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix. A good blend includes a mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark or coco coir to ensure proper aeration for the roots.
- Humidity: This plant thrives in high humidity (60% or more) but will tolerate average household humidity. To boost humidity, you can use a humidifier, a pebble tray with water, or group it with other plants.
- Fertilizer: During the growing season (spring and summer), feed your plant monthly with a balanced, liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half-strength. Reduce or stop fertilizing in the fall and winter.
- Repotting: As a young plant, you may need to repot it every 1-2 years. Move it to a pot that is only 2 inches larger in diameter to prevent the risk of overwatering and root rot.
